About the opportunity
Our client is an established organisation in the financial services sector. They need an experienced Systems Administrator to take ownership of their core technology environment and keep it secure, stable and compliant as the business grows.

Role purpose
You'll be responsible for the full infrastructure landscape: data centre, network, IT security, end-user computing and service desk. The aim is reliable technology services that support business objectives and meet regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Run infrastructure and IT services for maximum uptime, performance and business continuity, in line with ITIL principles
• Oversee third-party suppliers, contracts and service level agreements so delivery stays on standard and compliant
• Look after hosted and on-premises infrastructure, networks, security controls and end-user platforms to keep systems resilient and data protected
• Work with business stakeholders as the link between IT and operations, making sure technology keeps pace with changing business needs
• Help drive the organisation's digital roadmap through secure, scalable infrastructure
• Plan and maintain disaster recovery and continuity arrangements

Experience

• 5–10 years in IT infrastructure, covering areas such as networking, data centre operations, service desk and cybersecurity
• Experience in a financial services or other regulated environment is a strong advantage

Technical skills

• Windows Server (2019 to 2025), Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
• Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments
• Hyper-V virtualisation, high-availability clustering and active-active storage
• Enterprise network design and administration
• Security operations and compliance frameworks; PCI DSS knowledge is advantageous

Qualifications

• Degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field (BSc/BCom)
• Microsoft certification (e.g. MCP or role-based Azure/Windows Server certifications) or equivalent

• Willing to work extra hours when needed and to travel within South Africa
